Silken clarity and captivating sound best describe Brent
Carter. This native New Yorker had only one desire since his early childhood
and that was to entertain. Attending the Performing Arts High School of New
York alongside Wesley Snipes and Esai Morales,
he learned to utilize his gifts to their fullest potential.
His
theatrical experiences are vast and have opened many doors. His most recent
was traveling with Mike Matthew’s hit gospel play,
Forbidden Fruit where he landed the leading role of Marcus, also
featuring Todd Bridges, James Avery and
Marla Gibbs. Earlier in the year Brent starred in Who Can You
Trust? with Hawthorne James of The Five Heartbeats,
Tony Award winner Melba Moore, Ralph Tesvant,
former lead singer of New Edition and many more.
His
melodious voice has been in great demand for a number of years, which has
allowed him to perform at The Apollo Theater, appear on The Arsenio Hall
Show, The Tonight Show and on Vibe.
Carter
has had the pleasure of singing with Chris Walker, Malira,
Phil Perry, German funk band Chilly Bob,
Jeff Tamelier, Francis Rocco Prestia and
Mark Whitfield. He’s also been touring with BeBe
and CeCe Winans, B.B. King, and Regina
Bell, replacing Peabo Bryson on A Whole New World duet.
In
1995, Brent ultimately landed the position of lead singer of the phenomenal
group Tower of Power (T.O.P.). In his 5 and ½ year
tenure he recorded 3 albums and toured the world to sold-out audiences in
Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, England, France, and Holland just to name a
few.
Carter’s
voice will entrance you by wrapping itself around your heart and won’t
let go until the last syllable. It is virtually impossible to walk away from
an evening listening to Brent Carter’s sultry tones and not be touched.
