This
recent newlywed and ambitious pianist and vocalist obtained her passion for
music while playing for her father’s church choir when she was only
12 years old. It was this foundation that gave her the ear for every other
kind of music.
An honor student, this Spelman College graduate studied creative writing and jazz piano. The Chanda Bailey Trio, which she formed in 1995, performed live jazz all over Atlanta. In 1997, the budding artist moved to Los Angeles to begin her television career playing keyboards in the house band of the Keenen Ivory Wayans Show. In March of 1998, she met and befriended Grammy-nominated producer, DaMone Arnold. The two instantly formed a musical bond, quickly writing and recording her first record, "Easy on the Eyes." Her debut, which she playfully describes as a hybrid of Janet Jackson meets Stevie Wonder, is a collaboration of songs that are both playful and heartfelt. After a 1999 world tour with the Grammy-nominated reggae band, Morgan Heritage, ChandaLeigh returned to the US to grace the big screen in Jerry Bruckheimer romantic film, Coyote Ugly. Later that same year, she began collaborating with longtime mentor, friend and poet Ray Grant. Together the two have created such inspiring songs as “Big City Life”, ‘Wash His Feet” and “Don’t Cry For Me”. Her talents have also been showcased on MTV, The Roseanne Show, and The Caroline Rhea Show. Her theater credits include Fats Waller's Ain't Misbehavin', and Five Guys Named Moe. She also performs regularly with Joe Jennings and the Neighborhood Arts Jazz Orchestra of Atlanta. Chanda was the featured keyboard player in the house band for the Caroline Rhea show and is presently touring with acclaimed reggae band Morgan Heritage. Her second album, Big City Life, is a musical journey through life in the hustle and bustle of New York City. |

| Born in a family full of musicians, Her mother started Errica and her six siblings on piano and violin when Errica was five. Looking to her older brother, who is also a bass player, she learned quickly and started on her journey. She excelled through in the beginning classes and moved up into the junior orchestra. She joined the DC Youth Orchestra traveling to China, Korea, and Hong-Kong. Graduating with honors, she went on to college studying music at the Catholic University of America. “A
passion for music and her guitar” thoroughly describes this Orlando
native. The daughter of Pastor and Mrs. Jimmie Hawkins, Donna
Hairston discovered her passion for music at the age of six as a singer, and
age nine as a bassist. Following in the footsteps of her God-sister/instructor,
Donna quickly adapted to the bass and became an avid bassist during her childhood
years. Donna also studied classical piano in high school under the tutelage
of Edna Hargrett-Thrower, but could not deny her love for
playing bass.
With an independent CD release titled, “Starting Out”, Donna began her professional debut into the music business in 1998. She has recently graduated from the Atlanta Institute of Music, perfecting her musical education. She attributes her musical flavor to other bass masters such as John Patitucci, Victor Wooten, Fred Hammond, Marcus Miller, Me’Shell NdegeOcello, and Rhonda S. . |
